The Dell PN3W9 is a chassis cooling fan tray assembly designed for use in Dell PowerEdge R720 and PowerEdge R720xd rack‑mount servers. This assembly houses multiple high‑velocity blower‑style fans that work together to generate directed airflow through the server chassis, cooling critical components such as CPU heatsinks, memory modules, power supplies, and other internal hardware. The fan tray is hot‑swappable and connects via a proprietary 4‑pin PWM fan connector so the server’s thermal management system can monitor fan speed and adjust cooling as needed.
